The Amazing Healing Power Contained Within A Song

Actress and signer Julie Andrews of "The Sound of Music" fame recently turned 69. She looks great! To commemorate this blessed event Julie performed at the Radio City Music hall in Manhattan in a benefit for A.A.R.P., the organization that promotes the rights of our life-experience rich senior population.

During this concert she performed an amusing variation to the famous tune, "My Favorite Things", one of the most famous songs from "The Sound of Music", that musical blockbuster from the sixties. Today I was emailed these wonderful, amusing lyrics:

To the tune of "My Favorite Things"

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting, Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings, Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses, Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions, No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions, Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin', Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin', And we won't mention our short shrunken frames, When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break, When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I've had, And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews has been and continues to be an inspiration. She stands before us as a symbol of living life in the upper digits years of life. Laughter brings release, and release brings healing and new spark into life. Humor has been used as a catalyst for releasing pain, restoring mood, even as a treatment for cancer.

Thank you, lovely Julie Andrews, for your inspirational acts of giving!
