Natural Mood Enhancers

You can't turn the TV on these days without seeing advertisements for mood enhancing medications. What's this all about? Many in our population suffer from mood swings, depression, anxiety, stress, and a number of other mood related symptoms. What is the cause? No one knows for sure, and the topic of the cause of our mood and motivation is highly debated. What can we do as a natural mood enhancer?

Some choose to take what appears to be the easy road, and that is through medication to block or stop the symptoms. We cannot deny that in some cases this is necessary, and in this article we are neither advising or prescribing any course of treatment, we are only discussing some of the alternatives to this drug-related treatment. Can we adjust our moods through our diets and lifestyle? Many believe we can, and are living proof of this belief.

There are many supplements that are known to be a natural mood enhancer. Since they are herbal, and readily available to all, there is little funding to research these natural supplements. Still, the number of digits in research dollars cannot measure the effectiveness or nutritional value. Vitamin C, for example, is inexpensive, easily obtained, quickly assimilated into the body, and the excess readily released through the urine. Vitamin C is vital to our health and fitness, and is a powerful detox.

Some of the supplements that are on the market these days, and have received consideration and acceptance as natural mood enhancers are: St. Johns Wart, Magnesium, Chromium, Valerian, Sam-e, 5-HTP, and Acetyl-l-carnitine.
